Resident artist from Iraq, Mo Abd-Ulla

Mo Abd-Ulla has arrived this week from Iraq for the start of his residency at the Siena Art Institute!

He is a visual artist, curator of shows and workshops, lecturer and PhD student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. He was born in Babylon and is a Netherlander–Iraqi citizen. He creates a complex and diverse body of work that includes art-led intervention, installation art, drawing, sculpture, photography, video, text-based art, performance as a “sort of discursive argument”. His works were exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions. Mo has curated a number of shows and workshops.  He has also participated in residency programmes and given presentations and lectures at art and design institutes around the world.

He was awarded Post-Master Architecture, Decolonising Architecture, Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm; MFA Fine Art, Oslo National Academy of the Arts; MArch Architectural Design, The Bartlett, UCL, London; MA Curating, Chelsea College of Art and design, UAL, London; Fine Art Research and Production Programme, Jan Van Eyck Academy, Maastricht and BA Fashion design, Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam.
