What are City Arts?
City Arts are high-level art and craft workshops led by qualified instructors, designed for curious and creative individuals in Siena and beyond! Immerse yourself in art in a multicultural and multilingual environment!
Our courses are open to both absolute beginners who are interested in discovering art and craftsmanship for the first time and more experienced individuals looking to refine their techniques. Hosted by the Siena Art Institute, City Arts also offer an opportunity to immerse yourself in a stimulating and multicultural environment, meet our international semester students, and explore your creativity. They provide a chance to rediscover and nurture your creative side, just steps away from the center of Siena! Each course consists of 10 lessons, each lasting 2 hours, held weekly. Every week, you will learn new techniques and begin working on your final project. At the end of the course, the works created by City Arts students will be exhibited in a final show alongside the artworks produced by our international semester students. This event offers a chance to exchange ideas about creative processes, explore different ways of seeing and making art, and showcase the progress made to the community.
City Arts-2025 edition
For the 2025 edition of City Arts, in addition to courses offered in previous years, we have introduced a new program aligned with the Siena Art Institute’s environmental research:
Upcycling– Our new course focused on transforming discarded materials into art, redefining “waste” as creative potential.
Ceramics, with Jaqueline Tune; unleash your creative and manual skills by learning how to shape clay and create artistic objects.
Metal Arts, with Laura De Tanti; discover how to design and craft jewelry, from concept and wax modeling to the finished product.
Creative Writing, with Jeff Shapiro; learn how to capture the reader’s attention and refine your writing technique.
Watercolor painting, with Maria de Ferrari; gain a new understanding of visual expression through the magic of water and color
Each workshop takes a hands-on approach, providing tools and techniques that will help you deepen your knowledge and take your newfound skills with you beyond the course.
