Applications are now open for the Siena Art Institute’s 2027 Residency Program. Artists and writers from around the world, working in all disciplines, are invited to apply for a residency offering the chance to live and create in the heart of Siena, and in an open and stimulating environment.
Since 2012, the Siena Art Institute has welcomed creative artists from a wide range of disciplines offering spaces to develop independent projects while becoming part of Siena local and SART community.
The Residency Program provides selected residents with:
- A private Studio at SART
- Uninterrupted time to focus on personal research and artistic production
- The opportunity to work in an open community and in a city rich in history and artistic heritage
With one application, you can apply for one or more of the three residency categories offered at the Siena Art Institute. Studio Residency, Studio/Casa Residency (includes 1 br apartment), Summer Residency (includes 1 br apartment and flight compensation). See our website for more details.
Residents are invited to contribute to the cultural life of the Institute by organising open studios, performances, screenings and also workshops for participants in the Siena Art Institute’s summer programs or local community, creating opportunities for dialogue and creative learning.
HOW TO APPLY?
Applications for the 2027 residency program are open until September 30 (the deadline is midnight Italian time).
Applications must be submitted through the application form in the Are you an Artist/ a Writer? section on our website.
The online application includes:
- Residency Application General information Form
- Residency Statements (Project Proposal and Artist Statement)
- $50 Application Fee
Following the application deadline, submissions will be reviewed by the Institute’s selection committee. Only finalists will be contacted during the month following the review process. If you have not been notified within the month following the selection process, you have not been selected.
