What we’ll be doing on April 2nd and 3rd
The Siena Art Institute Easter Workshops are designed for young people aged 11 to 14 and run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Participation is free.
We start with an exploration of the Giardino Nascosto, a journey through the gardens, plants, and wildlife of the valley, learning to look at the natural world with fresh eyes.
Inside the studios, participants will work with ceramics, drawing, and painting, guided by experienced art educators. And, of course, there will be multilingual games and challenges!
All instructors are bilingual, offering young participants an immersive international environment which has always been a defining feature of the Siena Art Institute across its 15 years of activity.

The Hidden Garden
The Giardino Nascosto (The Hidden Garden) is a small woodland area adjacent to the medieval walls of Porta Romana, inaugurated by the Siena Art Institute in autumn 2024. It was created by a team of experts in sustainability and biodiversity, alongside artists, architects, designers, permaculture practitioners, and accessibility specialists.
The space is open to visitors during Siena Art Institute opening hours: everyone is welcome. The colourful benches of the Giardino Nascosto are perfect for a lunch break immersed in nature just steps from the city centre, a brief working meeting, or a quiet moment for reading or meditation. The carefully considered layout of the design furniture is conceived to facilitate interaction among signing individuals and to support the independent exploration of blind and deafblind visitors. The space is managed by agroecology experts with the utmost respect for its biodiversity, soil health, and the plants and animals that inhabit it.
The Hidden Garden was made possible through donations from local and international individuals and businesses, with matching support from the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena.
