Yvonne Jacquette (1934–2023) was an American painter renowned for her aerial views of cities and landscapes, often depicted at night. Based primarily in New York City and Searsmont, Maine, she studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and developed her distinctive perspective after beginning to sketch and paint from airplanes and high vantage points in the late 1960s. New York City was a central subject of her work, which explored light, scale, and spatial complexity through a synthesis of observation, memory, and imagination. Jacquette exhibited widely from the early 1960s onward, with major retrospectives including Aerial Muse: The Art of Yvonne Jacquette, and her work is held in numerous museum collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
