Rolando Castellón (b. 1937, Nicaragua) is a self-taught artist and curator whose career spans over five decades. Since the late 1960s, his work has been exhibited across Latin America, the United States, and Europe, including at the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo and the Museo Latinoamericano. He represented Nicaragua at the 54th Venice Biennale with his sculpture series Joyas de pobre. A pioneering figure in Latinx arts, Castellón co-founded and was the first director of San Francisco’s Galería de la Raza. He later served as curator at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (1972–1981), Mary Porter Sesnon Art Gallery (1983–1992), and the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo in Costa Rica (1994–1999).
