Matt Nolen

Fall 2022

Matt Nolen is a studio artist based in New York City and Narrowsburg, NY, whose ceramic practice investigates the relationship between craft, design, and public space. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in major museum collections such as the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the de Young Museum. Through sculptural objects and site-specific projects-including a public washroom created during the Kohler Art/Industry residency-he explores material culture, communication, and everyday rituals. In addition to his studio practice, he teaches at institutions including New York University and Pratt Institute, contributing to contemporary discourse in ceramic arts.
