Laurie Fendrich is an American painter, educator, and writer known for richly colored geometric abstract works that balance playfulness and compositional rigor. Based in New York and Lakeville, Connecticut, her paintings and drawings have been shown in solo and group exhibitions across the U.S., including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and in museum contexts. She has received fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the Brown Foundation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the National Endowment for the Arts, and her work has been reviewed in publications such as The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, and ARTnews. Fendrich earned her MFA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA from Mount Holyoke College and has taught painting and drawing for decades, most recently as Professor Emerita of Fine Arts at Hofstra University.
