Dean Snyder
Dean Sidaway – fashion designer
Dean Snyder is an American sculptor born in Philadelphia and based in Providence, Rhode Island. He earned his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with postgraduate studies in the UK supported by a British Arts Council Fellowship. Snyder has received major fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His work has been exhibited widely and is held in public and private collections worldwide. International exhibitions include the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Sculpture by the Sea (Sydney), Berlin Fashion Week, and the Instituto Cultural Peruano (Lima). Since 2001, Snyder has been a professor in the Sculpture Department at the Rhode Island School of Design and is represented by Cade Tompkins Projects.
