Chisaraokwu Asomugha is a 2025 National Endowment for the Arts Fellow and an Igbo American transdisciplinary poet, artist, scholar, and health futurist. Drawing on history, dreamscapes, quantum physics, and the Africa(n)|(in)diaspora, her work weaves image, texture, and text, and has appeared in venues including Transition, Obsidian, midnight&indigo, The Lancet, and The New England Journal of Medicine. Her honors include fellowships from the California Arts Council, MacDowell, Cave Canem, Ucross, and Headlands Center for the Arts, and nominations for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and Best New Poets. A retired pediatrician and former U.S. Commissioner to UNESCO, she holds degrees from Stanford, Duke, UNC, and Harvard, and is currently working on two poetry collections and a novel.
