Between Greece and India, the art "en route" of Alexandros Georgiou, makes a stop at the Siena Art Institute for our upcoming artist's talk appointment at the Siena Art Institute.

India, New Zealand, Thailand, New York, passing through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. The art of Alexandros Georgiou is an art "on the road," made of discoveries. Tuesday, November 22 at 6pm the Greek artist will be in Siena, current resident artist at the Siena Art Institute and presenter for the artist's talk this week in our weekly cycle "stARTers: assaggi d'arte."

In 2005 Alexandros Georgiou was in Varanasi, one of the holiest cities of India on the River Ganges. He worked with the local copy shop, creating photocopies in black and white of photographs with this analogue machine, then hand-painting each image, adding text on the back and sending these works of art in the form of a postcard to the people participating in the project, without keeping any copy of them.  This become the first of the "traveling"works of art of Alexandros Georgiou. Over the next decade many more projects have followed.

India, the focus of the stARTers presentation of November 22nd, has been the the setting of many of the artistic projects of Alexandros Georgiou and the country where his artistic career joined for the first time the concept of a journey. The Greek artist will discuss with the Sienese public his latest two projects: Chardham of 2014, a long journey through the temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the four corners of India, a symbol of the four corners of the world; and Maha Shakti Peetha of 2015, a pilgrimage to the discovery of 18 temples dedicated to Goddess Sati.

Appointment with Alexandros Georgiou for Tuesday 22 November at 6pm at the Siena Art Institute Via Tommaso Pendola 37. The meeting will end with an aperitif.
