Writer's Talk with Caoilinn Hughes 19 Feb

Irish writer, Caoilinn Hughes, in residence at the Siena Art Institute for the month of February, opens the calendar of StARTers - Assaggi d'arte 2019.
She will read some excerpts from her novel, Orchid & the Wasp (Hogarth 2018), which The New Yorker described as 'a winning debut novel,' and Pulitzer Prize-winning Anthony Doerr called 'a gorgeous novel told in an onrush of wit and ferocity [...] that will rattle your most basic assumptions about money, ambition and the nature of love.'
Caoilinn will also read a few poems from her poetry book, Gathering Evidence, some of which were translated into Italian for Poesia magazine.
The talk will be followed by Q&A and refreshments.
Free and open to the public.

La scrittrice irlandese, Caoilinn Hughes, artista in residenza presso il Siena Art Institute nel mese di Febbraio, apre il calendario StARTers - Assaggi d’arte 2019.
Leggerà qualche estratto dal suo romanzo, Orchid & the Wasp (Hogarth 2018), descritto dal New Yorker come ‘un avvincente romanzo di debutto’, e Anthony Doerr, vincitore del Premio Pulitzer lo ha definito "uno splendido romanzo raccontato con uno slancio di arguzia e ferocia [...] che farà vacillare le tue più basilari idee sul denaro, sull'ambizione e la natura dell'amore.
Caoilinn leggerà anche delle poesie tratte dal suo libro, Gathering Evidence, alcune delle quali sono state tradotte in italiano per la rivista Poesia.
Seguirà una sessione di domande e risposte e un aperitivo.
