STARTERS LIVE! broadcast on Friday May 22 with Polish jewelry designer and educator Magdalena Maślerz (presentation in English) who was an artist-in-residence at the Siena Art Institute back in 2018 (see video below). Streaming live from the Siena Art Institute's Facebook page,  speaking about her current work amidst this current global crisis, part of StARTers Live! our ongoing series of conversations with creative professionals around the world every Tuesday and Friday at 17:30 Siena/ 11:30 NYC. 

Magdalena Maślerz is a goldsmith specialised in bone jewellery and a teacher of goldsmithing based in Kraków, Poland. She was an artist-in-residence at the Siena Art Institute in 2018 and founded the first school of jewelry making (Szkoła Złotnictwa Xerion) in Kraków. She teaches there daily and helps young professionals to develop their craftsmanship. In her artistic work she explores world of bones and animal origin materials. She wants to show the people materials different from ivory and tortoiseshell but even more precious. Her works include bones of species like roe deer, cats, dogs, geese, fish and many others. She acknowledges the importance of creating practical, wearable objects. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions including: Nature​ Morte international jewellery exhibition that was shown in Vilnius, Lithuania, Silver Festival Legnica (Legnica, Poland), Ramybės galerija (Palanga, Lithuania) and Vilnius Academy of Arts Telšiai gallery (Vilnius, Lithuania), Most​ Excellent! jewellery_art for heroes–​ international exhibition of jewelry in Chemnitz, Germany, Beijing​ International Contemporary Metal&Jewellery Art Exhibition BIC-MAJA​in China, mineralART 2014: "between layers - worlds within agate"(jewellery),​ in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.
