Angie Cruz selected as Writer-in-Residence for July 2015

Writer Angie Cruz has been selected as the Siena Art Institute's upcoming July 2015 resident.  Angie Cruz is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh and is the author of two novels, Soledad (Simon & Schuster 2001), which she has adapted into a screenplay, and Let It Rain Coffee (S & S 2005), that was also a finalist in 2007 for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. She has published short fiction and essays in magazines and journals, including Callaloo, The New York Times, and Phatitude.  She has received numerous grants and residencies including the New York Foundation of the Arts Fellowship, Camargo Fellowship,  Yaddo, and The Macdowell Colony. She is one of the founding members of National Book Foundation’s Bookup and Editor of Aster(ix), a literary/arts journal. She was recently awarded the Elizabeth K. Doenges Visiting Artist/Scholar Fellowship from Mary Baldwin College and at work on her third novel, In Search of Caridad.
