Lisa Gordillo

Lisa Gordillo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., and is now based in Michigan’s rural Upper Peninsula. She studied Theatre and English at Virginia Tech, and received her MFA in Sculpture from the University of Iowa. Her interests include narrative, voice, poetics, loneliness, witness, repetition, connection and repair. Lisa’s most recent work addresses international acts of violence, with a focus on social concerns in the relationship between the U.S. and Guatemala. Other topics in her work have included abandoned places, incarcerated women, and threatened landscapes. Lisa teaches sculpture at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. She loves dogs, trees, and the color pink.
