Siete tutti invitati a "Dal Diario Senese - StARTers con Gabriel Feld", il prossimo appuntamento degli aperitivi con artista del Siena Art Institute! (TEXT IN ENGLISH BELOW)

La fine del mese e mezzo di residenza a Siena di Gabriel Feld - Incisore, artista, insegnante - si avvicina: è venuto il momento di presentare al pubblico una selezione di opere d'arte tratte dal suo Diario Senese!

Al Siena Art Institute, Feld si è lasciato ispirare dal contesto culturale e materiale della città di Siena, e ha quindi sviluppato una serie di sperimentazioni con la tecnica dell'acquarello. Il "Diario Senese" che queste opere vanno a comporre non rappresenta un corpo di lavori finito ma, come suggerisce la scelta del termine "diario" da parte di Feld, una riflessione aperta e continua che passa attraverso il mezzo visivo.

Martedì 27 febbraio Feld incontrerà il pubblico, racconterà il processo creativo che ha portato alla realizzazione delle sue opere senesi e aprirà le porte del suo studio per condividere un aperitivo con i presenti. Sarà possibile esplorare gli spazi di lavoro dell'artista e ammirare le opere tratte "Dal Diario Senese".

You are all invited to "Dal Diario Senese - StARTers with Gabriel Feld", the next appointment of artistic aperitifs at the Siena Art Institute!

Marking the end of his month and a half artistic residency in Siena, Gabriel Feld - printmaker, artist, teacher - is marking the occasion by sharing with the public a selection of works of art taken from his "Sienese Diary!"

At the Siena Art Institute, Feld has been inspired by the cultural and material context of the city of Siena, and has therefore developed a series of experiments with the technique of watercolor. The "Sienese Diary" that these works compose does not represent a finished body of works, but, as suggested by the choice of the term "diary" by Feld, an open and continuous reflection that passes through the visual medium.

Tuesday, February 27 at 6pm Feld will meet with the public, will discuss the creative process that led to the realization of his works in Siena and will open the doors of his studio to share refreshments and conversation with those present. It will be possible to explore the artist's work spaces and admire the works taken from "Dal Diario Senese".

Il cinema: arte sociale o arte per il sociale? Giuseppe Gori Savellini, Direttore Artistico del festival cinematografico internazionale Visionaria, parlerà di cinema e impegno sociale. Presentazione in italiano.

Cinema: social art or art for social outreach? Giuseppe Gori Savellini, Artistic Director of the international film festival Visionaria, will talk about cinema and social commitment. Presentation in Italian.

Painter whose shaped canvases seek to draw out kinesthetic relationships between shapes and the spaces they inhabit. Presentation in English.

Matt Murphy is a painter living and working in Boston, MA.  His work seeks to draw out kinesthetic relationships between shapes and the spaces they inhabit.  Working with shaped canvases these paintings are often free from the constraints of the traditional picture plane, however these abstract fictions come up against the realness of architecture as they attempt to create a world of their own.  

Murphy has shown nationally in the U.S..  He has a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and an MFA from the University of Washington in Seattle. He currently teaches painting and foundations at Montserrat College of Art.

Il Disegno come GESTO.  L’artista interdisciplinare Cristina Gozzini parlerà del suo percorso artistico tra Europa e Centro America. L’evento è a ingresso libero e si concluderà con un aperitivo. Presentazione in italiano con riassunto in inglese.

Artista americano multidisciplinare, J. K. Melvin predilige creare le sue opere in spazi pubblici. La sua arte investiga i materiali per scovare in essi significati reconditi in una combinazione di ecologia e cultura. Presentazione in inglese.

American multi-disciplinary artist producing work in the public realm, Melvin has a strong commitment to a material investigation, intent on distilling a meaning of ecology relevant to culture. Presentation in English.

Memory, Body, Place: Constructing Home.

Peter Tagiuri discuterà alcuni suoi recenti progetti interdisciplinari sviluppati in Corea e Francia accanto a progetti realizzati in collaborazione con i suoi studenti della Rhode Island School of Design (USA). Egli esplora l’ambiente quotidiano in cui viviamo e ci muoviamo, mettendo in relazione mondo naturale e spazi domestici. Presentazione in inglese.

Peter Tagiuri will discuss recent interdisciplinary projects created in Korea and France along with collaborative projects with his students at the Rhode Island School of Design (USA) exploring the everyday environments we inhabit and move through, connecting to the natural world and domestic spaces. Presentation in English.

Hirst works across media to break down, reconfigure, and embellish the substance of everyday life, exploring the culturally related but arbitrary relationship between things, words and symbols. Her processes often reflect simple acts of domestic labor, such as stitching or gardening, which are ritualized and extended as acts of physical endurance. The resulting objects become measures of memory, interconnected across time.  Presentation in English.

Hirst decostruisce, riconfigura e abbellisce la sostanza della vita quotidiana, esplorando le relazioni arbitrarie ma culturalmente significative tra oggetti, parole e simboli. I suoi processi creativi spesso riflettono semplici atti di lavoro domestico, dal cucito al giardinaggio, ritualizzati ed elevati ad atti di resistenza fisica. Gli oggetti risultanti diventano la misura di frammenti di memoria interconnessi nel tempo. Presentazione in inglese.

Katja Meier, scrittrice, presenterà estratti del diario “Across the Big Blue Sea: Good Intentions and Hard Lessons in an Italian Refugee Home,” che racconta la sua esperienza in un campo profughi in Toscana. Presentazione in inglese.

Author Katja Meier will discuss and present excerpts of her recent publication "Across the Big Blue Sea: Good Intentions and Hard Lessons in an Italian Refugee Home" a memoir about a refugee home in Tuscany.  Presentation in English.

Paco Ortĺ Ballester realizza oggetti simbolici mettendo insieme scultura e design, “esoscheletri” modellati sul suo stesso corpo che proteggono l’intimità dell’artista e, al tempo stesso, ne rivelano le emozioni. L’incontro fa parte del progetto “Cantiere Patrimonio - forme e materiali per le nuove generazioni, dall’idea alla produzione” ed è realizzato con il contributo di Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena.

Paco Ortĺ Ballester creates symbolic objects bridging sculpture and design, "exoskeletons" modeled on his own body that protect the intimacy of the artist and at the same time reveal his emotions. The presentation is part of the project "Cantiere Patrimonio - forms and materials for the new generations, from idea to production" and is realized with the contribution of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation.
