stARTers with painter Alisa Margolis April 21

Tues April 21 6pm the presentation for our weekly series of artists' talks "stARTers: assaggi d'arte" will be led by painter Alisa Margolis, who will chat about her background and her artistic activities, followed by Q&A and refreshments.  


Alisa Margolis is currently in Italy since she has been awarded the Villa Romana prize for 2015. Her work combines imagery from a variety of historical and contemporary sources, such as merging baroque patterns with pop culture and satellite imagery.  She was born 1975 in Kiev, Ukraine, studied at Columbia University in New York, at de Ateliers in Amsterdam (2001-2003) at the Delfina Studio Trust in London (2005-2006), and is now currently based in Berlin, Germany.  She has exhibited all over the world, including Expander at the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2004), the 2nd Prague Biennale (2005), The Triumph of Painting at the Saatchi Gallery (2005), Walker Evans and the Barn at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (2009) and the 1st Prinzessinnengarten Outdoor Sculpture Triennial in Berlin (2013).You can follow these links for more information about her work:
