17 Nov stARTers with artist Mikayel Ohanjanyan

Culture and Identity between Armenia and Tuscany.

Armenian artist Mikayel Ohanjanyan has created an interesting synthesis of formal research and analysis in the social contexts in which he lives and works.  The result is an art that translates in a synthetic and universal language the meetings of worlds, cultures, and relfections embodied in the artist.

His Armenian identity is at the center of the reflection of Mikayel Ohanjanyan in Tasnerku (Twelve), the contribution of the artist to the Armenian pavillion in the Venice Biennale of 2015.  Twelve site-specific sculptures created in Sardenian basalt that very much recalls the stones of Armenia, and the shapes that reflect the rhythms of architecture, literature, and music of Ohanjanyan's heritage.

Appointment with Mikayel Ohanjanyan Tuesday 17 November at 6 pm, first floor Via Tommaso Pendola 37, to discuss the artistic process of the artist and his recent participation in the Venice Biennale, part of the weekly series of talks at the Siena Art Institute, StARTers: assaggi d'arte.

The presentation will be in Italian, with sign language interpretation offered in collaboration with the Mason Perkins Deafness Fund Onlus.

Free and open to the public.
